Who We Are

Pioneers of Sustainable Aviation Fuel and Fischer-Tropsch Technology

Founded in 2007, Emerging Fuels Technology (EFT) is a technology company leading the development and commercialization of advanced production methods for synthetic, lower-carbon, sustainable fuels and chemicals.

Our proprietary technology transforms carbon-rich feedstocks—such as natural gas, biogas, biomass, CO₂ from industrial processes and direct air capture, and bio-derived oils—into sustainable drop-in fuels and chemicals.

Leadership Team

Kenneth Agee, Founder & President, formed Syntroleum Corporation in 1984, a publicly traded company where he held the position of CEO. There, he did extensive gas-to-liquids (GTL) development with several large oil companies between 1990 and 2007.

In 2007, he formed EFT, working to establish a leading contract research and technology licensing business while developing novel approaches to Fischer-Tropsch catalysis, reactor design, process integration, and product upgrading for significantly reducing the construction and operating costs of small, modular plants.

Mr. Agee holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and is listed on 26 issued U.S. patents and 3 pending patents.

Mark Agee, VP of Business Development, has spent his entire career growing technology companies from startup to IPO, two of which have gone public.

Mr. Agee is one of the original investors in Syntroleum Corporation and joined the company in 1994 as VP of Finance,  later serving as President/COO. There, he negotiated several partnerships, joint R&D agreements, and license agreements with 7 international oil companies, also leading its public offering in 2000.

Since 2010, he has focused on business development, strategy, and licensing at EFT. He holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Tulsa and is listed on 10 issued U.S. patents in synthetic and renewable fuels.

David Lloyd, Chief Commercial Officer, brings 25+ years of experience in aviation strategy, SAF innovation, and commercial scale-ups.

Previously, as Head of Strategy at Qantas, he authored Australia’s Power-to-Liquid SAF roadmap. In another airline role, he designed a loyalty business that sold for AUD 2.5 billion, launched a new subsidiary airline, and led multi-billion-dollar fleet investment initiatives.

At EFT, he leads the commercial deployment of our Technology Platform, driving modular SAF production to meet growing global demand.

Mr. Lloyd holds an MBA with distinction from INSEAD and a degree in Mathematics from the Australian National University.

Ed Holcomb, Chief Accounting Officer, has eight years of public accounting and 31 years of corporate finance expertise. He has held positions of VP of Finance, Chief Accounting Officer, and Controller prior to joining EFT and has over 10 years of experience with directing the SEC reporting at Docucorp International, EXE Technologies, and Memorex Telex.

Mr. Holcomb is a CPA, and holds a BSBA degree in Accounting from the University of Tulsa.

Ronnie Young, Lab Manager, with a background in oil and gas production and farming/ranching, joined Syntroleum Corporation as a supervisory chemist after graduate school and later transitioned to EFT.

At EFT, he directs lab operations, from small-scale processes to various pilot plant reactor designs and capabilities. He has improved Fischer-Tropsch catalyst formulation, preparation, and characterization to support two commercial catalyst manufacturers, and effort that led to standardized production methods and the production of over 150 MT of the EFT proprietary TL-8 catalyst for our licensees.

He holds an MS degree in Chemistry from the University of Oklahoma.

James W. Engman, Technical Services Manager, has 20+ years of experience working in laboratories, managing the catalyst development laboratory for both Syntroleum and EFT. Prior to his work in the Fischer-Tropsch world, he was the Laboratory Director for National Analytical Laboratories, an environmental testing service laboratory.

At EFT, he’s provided technical support for both our Fischer-Tropsch reactor and catalyst development and our extensive hydro-processing development. This includes creating catalyst and process parameters for producing jet, diesel, solvents, and base oils.

Mr. Engman holds a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota and an MS in Chemistry from St. Mary’s University of Texas.
