The Kids Are All Right: Gen Z is making sustainability a market priority

 
Is there any better predictor of the future than next-gen attitudes? With Generation Z now in the workforce and influencing the economy, our markets don’t just have a duty to listen to their interests—they’re going to have to.
 
It’s great news for EFT, then, that new
studies have revealed that Gen Z cares more about sustainability than any other cohort. In fact, their concern for the environment is so strong that, when they rated the importance of factors when making a purchase, sustainability outranked the brand name of a product by more than 25%. Even better than that, though, is the fact that every generation from Baby Boomers through Gen Z placed upwards of 10% greater importance on sustainability than on brand name.
 
This proves what we’ve been saying all along: the demand for sustainable fuels is already out there—we just need to make them more readily available. We’re already making low-carbon transportation fuels by licensing our renewable fuel technology (including the first-ever fossil-free
jet fuel). The next step is to expand our infrastructure to make our own sustainable fuels in the U.S. and move toward the shared goals of sustainability and energy independence.
